Sound xR Installationあわい間 / Awai Ma

Beyond the shoji lies another world.
Gently slide it open, and sounds begin to shift, the scenery comes alive, and the space itself quietly transforms.
Awai refers to the realm where different spaces, moments, and relationships meet and overlap.
Through the boundaries and connections created by the shoji, this installation invites visitors to experience the passage of time as it unfolds in the spaces between people and their surroundings, inside and outside, sound and silence.
Within this space, no particular action is required beyond opening and closing the shoji. Simply observe the scenery, listen to the sounds, and allow time to pass.
In a world where even the smallest gaps in everyday life are increasingly filled with information and stimulation, what meaning might we find in time spent without a particular purpose?
Through the awai of space and time, this installation invites us to reconsider the meaning of simply being present and experiencing the world around us, without seeking a specific goal or outcome.
To shape this experience through sound, the installation incorporates Sound xR, Yamaha Group's immersive audio solution.
Shoji, light, imagery, and sound moving through the space.
As these elements respond to and overlap with one another, a single space transforms into an awai — a place where multiple worlds meet and connect.
